Indie games from Toronto, Ontario

A little sweet.
A little unexpected

We're Butter Tart Games™, an indie team from Toronto, Ontario. We draw our own art, and we're working on our first game, Farfadet™.

Yes, like the butter tarts.

Drawn by us.

Meet Farfadet™

Your dungeon. Their problem.

You inherit your uncle's dungeon, treasure and all. Naturally, the heroes want a piece of it. Farfadet™ is a roguelite deck-builder about arranging monsters and traps so they don't make it to the treasure room.

  • Set the traps

Place monster and trap cards across your dungeon's floors. The order matters.

  • Make it unfair

Combine cards, relics, and runes until the numbers get a little silly.

  • Deal with the next hero

Some heroes counter your best tricks. Change your plan before they reach the treasure.

Coming soon

We're still building it. Farfadet™ is in early development, with no release date yet.

Toronto, Ontario

A name from home.

We're proudly from Toronto, Ontario. The name Butter Tart Games™ is a nod to home, and to a very good tart.

We take pride in drawing our art by hand. You can see some of it below, from a goblin who looks fed up already to a chest you probably shouldn't open.

Our first game is Farfadet™. It's still early, but the dungeon is filling up.

From the sketchbook

A few of the usual suspects.

A few monsters, one suspicious chest, and the obligatory wizard. All drawn for Farfadet™.

A hand-drawn green goblin with pointed ears and a decidedly unimpressed expression.

Goblin

Small stature. Big attitude.

A bright green, hand-drawn slime with wide eyes and a wobbly tail.

Slime

Just happy to be involved.

A hand-drawn treasure chest with suspicious eyes, sharp teeth, and a purple tongue.

Mimic

Definitely a normal chest.

A hand-drawn wizard with a long white beard, purple robes, and a glowing staff.

Wizard

Because you always need a wizard in fantasy games.
